THUMB2

OK, everybody. New issue of THUMB
is out. As you may know, this is the zine that my friend E*Rock
puts out every now and then, but I think it's one of the best music zines
or magazines for that matter as far as content goes. In this issue E*Rock
interviews musicians such as Michael Fakesch of Funkstorung, Plone, Flowchart,
Volume All*Star and more. You get the feeling as you read that you are getting
the inside scoop kind of like when Walt Frasier is interviewing Patrick Ewing,
you are likely to get a more personal response to the questions. At times
it gets very specific about technical aspects of making music and I don't
understand all of it, but it seemed like many of them were saying you don't
have to have loads of expensive equipment to make interesting music. Coming
from great musicians like Michael Fakesch, that's very encouraging although
I am in a very different field. This is also worth having just for the great
illustrations by E*Rock and Ian. Also as in all the THUMB's, the reviews section
will clue you in on many interesting artists out there. So, how does one get
a copy of THUMB? Hopefully your local record store is cool enough to carry
it already, but if not it's $4ppd to PO Box 40572, Portland OR, 97240-0572.
THUMB No.10 is available at insound,
so I think this new one will be available there too shortly.
