DAZED & CONFUSED #68 - August 2000
Well, this is another magazine that I never expected to be in. I don't
read many magazines regularly, but Dazed
& Confused, I can't help thumbing through whenever a new issue
comes out. I'm always curious what's going on over there in the UK. The
Face used to fill that need, but I think D&C has had more substance
lately. I hope they can keep it that way. This one is also written by the
very talented Mandana Towhidy who wrote the article for Tokon as well. Who
knows, the way she's going she could be like the next Douglas Coupland soon.
Well, thanks to this article, I have been getting lots of e-mails from people
across the Atlantic and they are also all sold out of stuff at ambient
soho at the moment. I haven't been to England in a long time, but
I have fond memories of times when I was there. My first overseas trip was
England. I was only 5 or 6, but my mom being the relatively uninhibited
and adventurous person she is, took me and my brother to Cambridge, England
one summer. She took some Summer Classes at the University and we stayed
with a host family. We must have been a handful at that age, but it really
was the most fun Summer except for the time we were on a small boat on the
river Cam and I fell off and thought I was going to drown. Anyway, I'm really
getting off the subjec. This issue also includes articles about Mr. Michael
Stipe and Ms. Rose McGowan, so it's good reading for sure. There is one
thing that's not true in the article though (sorry Mandana). I never got
a phone call from David Bowie. It was in the form of a e-mail from somebody
at Bowie.net.
Anyway, big thanks! to Mandana and all the confused people at Dazed.
